Sewing Machine to Scroll Saw
After a week of getting frustrated waiting for my source of seasoned oak to come through, I have been up to some other jazz, helping Sam with the ‘cubby-under-the-stairs shoe draws’, and doing a scroll saw to sewing machine conversion experiment.
Having had this old sewing machine sitting about for several years collecting dust (we have another one for actual sewing), it seems time to turn it into something fun and exciting. If you haven’t had a good look inside one of these old beasts, you might be surprised by the wealth of magical mechanisms in there. Helical gears, all manner of pivots and dials, offset pistons – mostly all nicely machined parts, just waiting to be discovered.
There seems to be a surprising lack of any documented conversions of this kind on the net?? Let me know if you know of any…
